Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 July 2026.

The short version: we run privacy-respecting analytics so we can see which guides are useful, some links to software may earn us a commission, and we never sell your data. The detail is below.

Who we are

Best In The is a UK software review site. For anything privacy-related, contact us at hello@best-in-the.co.uk. This policy explains what limited data we handle and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

Best In The is a static content site with no accounts, logins or comment sections, so we do not collect names, passwords or profiles. Two things involve data:

  • Analytics. We use privacy-respecting analytics to count page views and see which reviews and guides people rely on. This is aggregate information: that a page was viewed, roughly from where, and on what type of device. We do not use it to build an advertising profile of you.
  • Server logs. Like every website, our host keeps standard request logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting. These rotate automatically and are not tied to any identity.

Affiliate links

Some links to software vendors may be affiliate links. If you click one and later subscribe, the vendor's own system may set a cookie so they can credit us with the referral, at no extra cost to you. That cookie is set by the vendor, under the vendor's privacy policy. How we keep affiliate arrangements from influencing our rankings is set out on the About page.

Cookies

Best In The does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own, and our analytics is configured to be as cookie-light as possible. If we ever introduce a cookie that stores anything specific to you, this page will say so and, where the law requires it, we will ask your consent first.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct or request deletion of any personal data a processor holds about you, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Because we hold almost nothing tied to your identity, there is usually little to act on, but you are welcome to ask at any time.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions: hello@best-in-the.co.uk.
